BRIEF HISTORY OF SANKORE SDA CHURCH

Theodore Roosevelt says “do what you can with what you have, right where you are” and Jesus Christ also emphasis “you are the light of the world”. In light of this, the late elder John K. Manu started the Seventh-day Adventist church at Sankore in the year 1948. Though he came from Nsuta in Ashanti region to make cocoa farm at Sankore, he organized his family for regular worship in his house.

The Holy Spirit move upon him to organized the scattered Adventist farmers at the nearby villages. Due to elder Johns’ able leadership and commitment to Gods’ work, he conducted house to house visitations. Eventually, some Adventists who have hid their identity at the nearby villages came to join this company of believers. At this juncture, they were still worshiping at elder Johns’ house.

In fact, as the disciples were called Christians at Antioch, these believers were called “John Asxrq (Johns’ church). They exhibited the true spirit of devotion and dedication such that they could build their own church. Some of the new convert were; James Aggrey, Opanin Bronya, Isaiah Oduro, Elizabeth Kyeiwaa and B.C.B Debrah was a contractor by then, and later became a Pastor.
